Mars is a Proto-Earth

Mars has a diameter about as wide as the continent of Africa. Its overall size, or surface area, is about eight times less than Earth’s, but it has the same amount of dry land.

Basalt meteorites from Mars indicate that volcanism has occurred in the last 180 million years. Very few impact craters occur on the lava flows of Olympus Mons, suggesting that this volcano has probably erupted in the last few million years.

SHARAD on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter: Marte Vallis is one of a number of features that suggests catastrophic flooding, but it is quite young at 500 million years old, long after water was thought to be common on the Martian surface. Compared there to the draining of Lake Missoula.

Each planet has roughly the same amount of land surface area. Both have large polar caps, similar tilt, strong seasons. Mars Global Surveyor: the planet may have once had a global magnetic field; that dynamo faded, leaving traces locked in the crust.

Having the same amount of dry land as earth does undeniably correlates to the concept of super-continents except without oceanic crust. Mars is the physical representation of the theorized super-continent Pangaea but in a planetary form.
