A spent Earth-sized world

Earth-sized and spent. Ninety-two bars of carbon dioxide. A surface wiped a few hundred million years ago. Read as an ending, not a first draft.

What the cameras and papers show

Venus is nearly Earth’s size and mass. The air is 92-bar carbon dioxide. Ground temperature is about 460 °C. The spin is backward and longer than the year.

Almost nothing on the ground is older than a few hundred million years. Magellan mapped a volcanic lid. Highstanding tessera land is there; whether it is old continent is not settled.

The deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio records a large lost hydrogen inventory — the usual reading is a great deal of past water, later lost.

How this site reads it

This site reads Venus as a spent Earth: an Earth-sized world after the living chapter ended.

The young volcanic lid is a fact. The past ocean is an inference from the hydrogen that left. Neither is proof of a prior living turn.

What would kill this stage

If Venus never had oceans or continents, the spent-Earth reading comes off the table.
