Ganymede

Original wording. Not rewritten as Paper I. Withdrawn claims stay visible so the record is not erased.

Ganymede is the largest satellite in our solar system. It is larger than Mercury and Pluto, and three-quarters the size of Mars. If Ganymede orbited the sun instead of orbiting Jupiter, it would easily be classified as a planet.

Three main layers: a sphere of metallic iron at the center (the core, which generates a magnetic field), a spherical shell of rock, and a spherical shell of mostly ice perhaps 800 km thick. Ganymede’s magnetic field is embedded inside Jupiter’s massive magnetosphere. It is the only known natural satellite that currently maintains a strong magnetic field.

2014 identity sentence: “Around 3.5 billion years ago proto-earth #2 Europa transitioned to become proto-earth #3 Ganymede.” Before 2.5 billion years ago was proto-earth stage #3 Ganymede.

The live Ganymede page keeps the field and the ice. It does not use “transitioned to become.” Analog is not identity.
